Manta’s multi-disciplined team is able to offer a full range of consulting services to a range of stakeholders – including designers, builders, operators, crew and owners.
Our highly accomplished team of experienced surveyors, chartered naval architects, marine engineers, master mariners and project managers can tackle projects of all types and sizes – whatever the challenge.
Buying a superyacht is a significant financial decision and it is imperative to seek expert advice to establish its condition prior to purchase. This is arguably more important than finding the right yacht in the first place.
Manta's highly qualified and professional marine surveyors have a wealth of knowledge on yacht design, construction and operations, gained from years of valuable experience. This means we can perform comprehensive condition surveys, and provide an independent, honest, thorough and accurate assessment of any yacht.
Our concise and expert reports – which start with a single page summary of any significant findings – give a potential owner a clear picture of the yacht’s condition.
Naval architecture is the principle engineering discipline behind all yacht design, construction and operation.
Our chartered engineers are full members of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, and can provide a range of services in this area including design evaluation, rule compliance, inclining experiments and lightship checks.
Translating your vision for a new yacht into reality is a complex and challenging process – from initial design, through the build stages, commissioning, and into active service.
It’s a similar story when it comes to planning and executing a refit. All of the required changes must be incorporated to the highest standard. Not to mention complying with the regulations, and co-ordinating all of this with regular equipment servicing and repairs.
At Manta, we appoint a dedicated on-site team to represent the owner during a new-build or refit. This team – which includes experts who have worked on many new construction and refit projects in different countries – are used to working with designers and shipyards on range of projects with wide ranging budgets.
From drafting or reviewing the initial tender package and technical specification, to assisting with the final delivery, our team will be with you every step of the way.
And the build or refit process doesn't just end once your yacht is delivered. There are guarantees and warranties that require careful management to ensure that any problems or failures are addressed at the shipyard’s cost.
Manta’s team remains involved throughout the warranty period. We make sure that any claims are raised in a timely manner and tightly controlled until a satisfactory outcome is reached.
Due to the complexity of building yachts, contract disputes, whilst unfortunate, do happen. And addressing these in a fair and objective way requires independent third party expertise – otherwise it is impossible to find a satisfactory resolution for all parties.
Due to the subjective nature of these disputes, the impartiality and experience of the third party is key.
Our formally-trained surveyors are ideally suited to this role. Having worked with countless yachts, designers and builders, they have experience of numerous contract issues and can act as an independent arbitrator to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
Not being affiliated with any other companies means our independence is guaranteed. And, due to this, we are regularly asked to provide expert technical advice to major maritime law firms.
