This bespoke s@fe&simple safety management system has been developed by Manta Maritime for the exclusive use of M/Y Sample.

It has been created to comply with the safety management system requirements of Section 30 of LY2 (MSN 1792, the Large Commercial Yacht Code), which are mandatory for all Red Ensign charter yachts under 500 Gross Tons, and in this respect the layout is largely based on the proforma provided in LY2 Annex 2.

Unlike the ISM Code, LY2 does not require M/Y Sample and the Company to undergo regular audits, however, the implementation of the safety management system onboard the yacht will probably be verified at the annual surveys by the CISR. At such time it will be necessary for the crew to be familiar with this system, and that it can be shown that the procedures contained within are being followed.

The content of s@fe&simple has been carefully created to ensure that whilst the requirements of LY2 are met, nothing superfluous is demanded of the yacht's Master and crew. The policies, method statements, procedures and forms contained within s@fe&simple are not caste in stone, indeed COMP encourages regular feedback from the system's users and is dedicated to continually improving it.

s@fe&simple should be followed at all times. Even when M/Y Sample is being refitted or during a period of being laid-up, the principles of the system should be followed as far as practicable.
