Historically, many Classification Societies and flag States have chosen not to pursue yachts, possibly due to them being of a small tonnage compared to most merchant ships. However, as the yachts get bigger and more exotic, an increasing number of regulators are getting involved for various reasons; taking a more proactive approach to promoting safety and pollution prevention, for economic gain or simply because of the perceived kudos luxury yachts bring to their fleet.
This has resulted in a mind-boggling number and variety of requirements that apply to yachts, so who better to provide guidance through this regulatory maze than a team of dedicated, enthusiastic, highly experienced and respected engineers, naval architects and former regulators. Put simply, if Manta Maritime cannot help you, then we don’t know who can.

He is, without doubt, one of the most experienced and respected so called ‘MCA surveyors’ in the world. After establishing a reputation as a very able naval architect and competent professional engineer whilst working for Lloyd’s Register as a surveyor, Anthony was asked to join the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry as a Marine Surveyor in 2001. This coincided with the CISR’s rapid expansion, with Anthony helping to establish it as the largest and most prestigious superyacht registry in the world. He was at the forefront of introducing the UK’s Large Commercial Yacht (MCA) Code to the North American yacht builders and soon became Lead Surveyor.
He left the CISR in 2006 to found Manta Maritime.
